This is a short race Kevin Going and I had on Saturday night. We normally run a whole bunch of these back to back to get our race fix on a Saturday in preparation for running the same car and track in a 1hour timed race the following Friday, but after this one (the second of that evening) we decided to call it a night as we both agreed it wasn’t going to get much better than this!
So here it is, three laps of Road America in rFactor, racing Caterham Roadsport 125s close to the limit. This is the standard quality version so if you want the HD you will have to click through to YouTube for it.
You only need two people to have a race.
For those interested, this video was exported from rFactor using the replay exporter. This limits me to VFW which is really horrible, but if you play around with encode settings you can get a nice-looking very large .ogm with h264 video in it, and an .avi somewhere else with the sound. The files were then edited and muxed and finally encoded in h264/aac using kdenlive (running in kubuntu) with my own custom 720p profile. ~3gig .ogm down to 240meg .mp4 and ready to upload. There’s no telling what YouTube will do to it once it’s uploaded though.
